Hi, my name is Regine Hou from the little island city of Singapore.

Graduated from the only teacher college in Singapore, the National Institute of Education, I am thankful to have my lecturers, tutors and mentors as the curriculum developers and writers for the Ministry of Education (Singapore). The trainings that were carefully designed for teachers like me have allowed me to carve a successful teaching career in not just Singapore, but worldwide. In my capacity as a teacher, teacher mentor and Head of Department of Mathematics, I successfully helped the students under my care and the whole school achieve a high attainment rate within a year’s implementation. Based on my experience, students who have a high attainment level tend to sustain interest in higher level mathematics. Therefore, a strong foundation in mathematics at elementary level is paramount to ensuring success in higher level education.

With my success in helping my school implement the Singapore mathematics curriculum, I realised that more students would be able to appreciate and learn mathematics the way Singaporean students have been learning and succeeding not just in the subject, but many aspects of life in future. I decided to share my experience and knowledge with the world as a teacher who has been raised, taught and trained at the heart and center of the country that has repeatedly put her students on the world stage in international benchmark assessments for mathematics.
